WOODLAND SKIN RENEWAL
Pre & Post-Treatment Care
Good aftercare helps protect your skin, support recovery and get the most from your treatment. Select your treatment below for your post-care instructions.
Before Your Treatment
Before Corrective Treatments
We ask that you pause retinoids, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide,
scrubs and other potentially irritating active products before
corrective treatments such as Aerolase, microneedling and all peels at Woodland Skin Renewal,
unless you have been given different written instructions.
Why?
These products can increase skin sensitivity and irritation. Giving your skin
a short break beforehand helps us treat calmer, more resilient skin and may
reduce unnecessary post-treatment inflammation.
You do not need to stop your regular active skincare before
a facial or LED treatment unless we have specifically advised you to do so.
What you may notice
Temporary redness, warmth, sensitivity, mild swelling or dryness may occur.
Pigmented areas can temporarily appear darker before improving.
For the first 24 hours
- Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers.
- Avoid excessive heat or activities that irritate the treated skin.
- Use gentle skincare while sensitivity is present.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids and irritating active products.
- Do not rub, scratch or pick the treated area.
Ongoing care
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily.
- Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer.
- Follow your recommended treatment schedule.
Contact Woodland if you experience
Excessive swelling or discomfort, blistering, signs of infection,
worsening symptoms or any unexpected reaction.
Before your appointment
Shave the treatment area approximately
24 hours before your appointment.
This removes the hair above the skin while leaving the follicle intact
for treatment.
Between appointments
- Do not wax, pluck, tweeze or thread the treatment area.
- Shaving or trimming is okay between appointments.
- Do not remove hair from the root — the follicle needs to remain intact for the laser to target it effectively.
- Shave approximately 24 hours before each treatment.
After your treatment
- Temporary redness, warmth or mild sensitivity can occur.
- Avoid excessive heat if the skin feels sensitive.
- Use gentle skincare until irritation settles.
- Do not rub, scratch or pick the treated skin.
- Protect exposed areas with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.
Contact Woodland if
You experience blistering, significant swelling, increasing discomfort,
signs of infection or another unexpected reaction.
What you may notice
Skin may feel warm, tight or mildly sunburned and appear pink or red.
Mild dryness or flaking can occur over the next few days.
Tonight
Do not wash your face the evening of your treatment. Keep your skincare
simple, keep your hands off your skin and sleep on a clean pillowcase.

Use hypochlorous acid mist as recommended to help keep freshly treated
skin clean without unnecessary irritation.

Hydrate generously, your skin needs moisture while the barrier recovers.
- Do not cleanse your face again that evening.
- Do not apply makeup, retinoids, acids, scrubs or other active skincare.
- Avoid touching or rubbing the treated skin.
- Sleep on a fresh, clean pillowcase that night.
The next morning

- Pat dry, with a clean towel or single use towel, do not rub.

What you may notice
Skin may feel tight, warm, dry or mildly sensitive. Some clients experience
little visible peeling, while others develop light flaking over several days. Peeling is the most common with BHA peels.

While your skin is recovering
- Cleanse gently and keep the skin moisturized.
- Do not pull, peel or scrub flaking skin.
- Avoid retinoids, acids, scrubs and irritating actives until the skin settles.
- Avoid excessive heat and unnecessary irritation.
- Avoid waxing or aggressive exfoliation on healing skin.
Protect your skin
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day.
- Reapply sunscreen when appropriate.
- Avoid intentional tanning and prolonged sun exposure.
Contact Woodland if
You experience significant swelling, blistering, increasing pain,
intense burning, signs of infection or an unexpected reaction.
